We are all addicted to Pinterest

Okay So like many others, I am utterly addicted to Pinterest. I am a huge crafter, hobbyist, amateur wood worker, collector, hoarder, squirrel finder. And in squirrel, I mean, I am easily distracted. I want to try anything and everything. I am such a scatter brain when it comes to crafting. My mind is always turning, and its very difficult to wind down.
As  my girls were growing up, every time they asked for something, wands, tutus, hair bows, anything crafty, my response was "No I am not buying that, I can just make it for you". So the joke around the house is, "Let me guess, You can make that?".

Well, We just bought a new House in Southern Utah. My dream house. So many bedrooms, so little money to decorate them all! So that's where my love of pinning comes from. Decorating my house. With the help of Pinterest, I have found so many tutorials on how to make an entire kitchen look fresh and new.
( I found this blog and she shows her decorating tips. Reading her blog had me laughing with tears in my eyes!)
Here is her blog, http://www.olderandwisor.com/search/label/decorating%20stuff

My kitchen. This photo shows the sage green that was there when we moved in(the bottom color). It wasn't ugly, I just wanted something brighter and fresh. I really wanted to try the batten board treatment that is so popular right now.
So we tinted the primer a light yellow (I will never do that again, because now I have half a gallon of yellow primer that I can't really use anywhere else ). Then my daughter (in the picture) helped paint the walls a bright yellow. I did NOT like that color, but maybe after a month I will like it? Nope. It sat on my walls for over a month, before I decided I really did NOT like and it really had to go.

So with Thanksgiving just 4 days away (at the time) We needed to pick up the pace fast! Hubby was home from work for 2 weeks so what better time to kick it into gear?
So I went back to Home Depot got the Behr interior prime and paint and got the Golden Leaf (top color)and Almond Bark Bottom Color). Yep, thats  more like it...
My new colors

Starting the Batten Board wall Treatment ( I used the mdf primed 1 x 4. We used about 32 6 foot boards)

Loving it! has a 4 inch ledge.

looking so pretty

Almost done!
Done for now! The barn red wall was there when we moved in. I loved the color. I was going to do the same treatment as the batten board on that wall as well, but after the mad rush to get it decent for Thanksgiving (at the time) we opted to leave the red wall totally untouched, and I must say, I love it, and have no intentions on changing it! Just going to add art or decor to it one day.
